About Blue Star Incense

Hello my name is William J. Noel and welcome to my website...Blue Star Incense.com
I'm an artist living in Oshawa Ontario Canada. I started out as a traditional artist drawing, painting on canvas and digital art. You might already know me through my other web site www.thevisualmind.com
I have always loved incense ...I find comfort in lighting incense, sitting back and relaxing watching the smoke rise, moving around wherever the air will take it. Finding inspiration in the scent's mind. Making a connection with nature and its wonderful healing aromas.
After finding out 90% of all incense is made of synthetic chemicals I decided to create my own incense, from the finest natural ingredients.

Blue Star Incense is made "without" a bamboo stick. Based on Tibetan & Japanese incense making.
I use "No" synthetic oils and "No" saltpetre/potassium nitrate {which is a burning agent}, chemical binders or artificial colours.
Blue Star incense is made only with the finest essential oils, aromatic woods, resins herbs & spices.
Blue Star incense is properly measured & formulated with a vegetable gum {Guar Gum} , so no burning agent needed.

The Synthetic world….is one of the reasons that I ’m exploring natural means…like incense {natural incense}. The connection between man and nature is in decline, given way to modern synthetic materials.
I became more aware of the chemicals found in most incense when I started to learn more about making my own incense.
You see most incense today is made from blank “punk” sticks or firecracker sticks. Firecracker sticks are made from any kind of wood fibre and glue to adhere the wood to a bamboo stick. There are two forms of blank/punk sticks...wood based and charcoal based.
Some are made from any kind of ground plywood loaded with formaldehyde! Mixed in the wood is a chemical called saltpetre/potassium nitrate. It’s a burning agent to help the incense burn better.
Firecracker sticks was never intended to make incense with, it was made to light firecrackers in China.
So what they do is take the punk/firecracker sticks and dip them in synthetic oils, also called "fragrance oils"

If that isn’t enough they cut the fragrance oils in another chemical called DPG { dipropylene glycol} to extent the oils.

Often people complain of headaches, scratchy throat when using incense made with punk sticks…I haven’t experienced that, but I did have burning watery eyes from dipped incense.
I came across a great article written by David Oller titled "Yes! We Have no Bananas"
David Oller really shows the dangers of dipped incense and incense made with synthetic materials. Truly an informative article, a must read!!!

You'll find that natural incense doesn't choke you or over whelm your senses. You'll find that natural incense is mellower and creates a nice relaxing atmosphere.

I was thinking of dipping my own incense, then I happened to come across a book on natural incense making and I was hooked. I wanted to learned about the scents of the earth and its healing powers.

Ancient people have used incense for thousands of years, using all natural woods resins and herbs and spices.
So this is one of the reasons I decided to make all natural incense plus to grasp a greater connection with nature that I so sorely miss and need. I want to have an appreciation for the planet I was born. To experience natural physical and mental healing that natural incense can provide.
I have been getting into aromatherapy/essential oils as well and I'm learning how natural essential oils affect the physical and mental self for well being.

May the mind find peace among the wisps of fragrant smoke.
William J. Noel
